Absolutely Nothing
(for Mike)

He is in charge of absolutely nothing
but takes his job very seriously.

He has grown his beard specially,
combed his hair and ironed his shirt;

he strikes an important pose
behind the empty podium

ready to comment or make judgement
but there is nothing left to say

and no-one there to say it to.
He is absolutely in charge

and nothing has changed.
Ab-so-lute-ly nothing.
