List Poem 2…

…in this sequence. I’d written the ‘Adding List Poem’ in yesterday’s posting as a submission for an educational theme and anthology publication, thus the direction towards students/young writers (as a teacher I always found list poems a superb idea/structure/support for encouraging creative writing).

The poem wasn’t taken, and thus yesterday’s posting of it to share all the same. And as I said then, this prompted me to write a ‘Subtracting List Poem’ which follows. Any arithmetical references – correct or awry – are from research rather than my Maths CSE Grade 4 shallow aptitude, though this could have fueled the less secure (but I always, in any case, take comfortable refuge in poetic licence):

Bugbear No. Whatever…

Presumably we all have our many bugbears. One of mine is the observation ‘It was surreal’, this most commonly brought to my attention on TV interviews when a (again usually) sports person, or celebrity, or person-of-the-moment is speaking about an actual, real achievement and/or experience and they describe it as the total contradiction of ‘surreal’. There, I’ve said it:
